Reno, NV – Building on the success of the inaugural Farm to Table Trade Meeting in April 2016, regional farmers, ranchers, chefs, restaurateurs and staff from Nevada’s higher education institutions will meet again when the farm to table trade meeting returns to Reno.
The Farm to Table Trade Meeting will be held on Monday, April 10, 10 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., at Hidden Valley Country Club, 3575 E. Hidden Valley Drive, Reno. Cost is $35 for those registering by April 3, and $40 afterward and includes a locally-sourced lunch prepared by Hidden Valley Country Club Chef Uriel Ramirez-Dominguez. The meeting provides the opportunity for farmers, ranchers, chefs, grocery buyers, food artisans, processors and distributors to meet for a day of speed networking, panel discussions and one-on-one buyer-producer consultations aimed at creating new business opportunities.
Keynote speaker chef Greg Buchheister of the Coffeebar will talk about his challenges and successes in sourcing local food including milk from Sand Hill Dairy in Fallon. Buchheister will also participate in the panel discussions as local farmers and chefs discuss challenges and solutions to rebuilding the region’s local food system.
The event is organized and hosted by Western Nevada College Specialty Crop Institute and the Desert Farming Initiative at University of Nevada, Reno. Both organizations work with local farms and businesses to help expand and diversify Nevada agriculture.
